چکیده

Fuzzy relational databases have been extensively studied in recent years, resulting in several models and constructs, some of which are implemented as software layers on top of diverse existing database systems. Fuzzy extensions to query languages and end-user query interfaces have also been developed, but the design of programming interfaces has not been properly addressed. In this paper, we describe a software framework called fJdbc that extends the Java Database Connectivity API by allowing fuzzy queries on existing relational databases, using externally-stored metadata. Since the main design objective of this extension is usability for existing database programmers, only a restricted subset of extensions (supported also by an extended object modelling notation) has been included. The overall design of the framework and some experimental data are also described.

Extending the Qualitative Trajectory Calculus Based on the Concept of Accessibility of Moving Objects in the Paths

Qualitative spatial representation and reasoning are among the important capabilities in intelligent geospatial information system development. Although a large contribution to the study of moving objects has been attributed to the quantitative use and analysis of data, such calculations are ineffective when there is little inaccurate data on position and geometry or when explicitly explaining ...

A Fuzzy Goal Programming Approach for Optimizing Non-normal Fuzzy Multiple Response Problems

In most manufacturing processes, each product may contain a variety of quality characteristics which are of the interest to be optimized simultaneously through determination of the optimum setting of controllable factors. Although, classic experimental design presents some solutions for this regard, in a fuzzy environment, and in cases where the response data follow non-normal distributions, th...

A framework for scientific data modeling and automated software development

MOTIVATION The lack of standards for storage and exchange of data is a serious hindrance for the large-scale data deposition, data mining and program interoperability that is becoming increasingly important in bioinformatics. The problem lies not only in defining and maintaining the standards, but also in convincing scientists and application programmers with a wide variety of backgrounds and i...

Introducing fuzziness in object models and database interfaces through aspects

Imperfection in information can be considered a cross–cutting concern that manifests itself in diverse kinds of imprecision, uncertainty or inconsistency in the data models of a software system. The extension of existing programming and querying interfaces for the different aspects of information imperfection requires a proper modularization of the different concerns of numerical imprecision ha...

Integrating Programming Languages & Databases: What’s the Problem?

The problem of integrating databases and programming languages has been open for nearly 45 years. During this time much progress has been made, in exploring specialized database programming languages, orthogonal persistence, object-oriented databases, transaction models, data access libraries, embedded queries, and object-relational mapping. While new solutions are proposed every year, none has...
